Where the heck is Rabat?

That was my first thought too... it's on the northwest coast of Africa. This is their "winter" season - um, 60's and 70's and rainy mostly. I'll take it! Rabat is not the largest city in Morocco, but it is the capital. I'll leave the detailed information to our ever scrupulous friends at wikipedia.

But my first impressions are that it is waaaay more african than I had planned. I've been to Kenya - the far reaching parts of Kenya - and I've seen the hardships and the poverty and felt overwhelmed. I had the impression that Rabat was a modern city. Um, I guess the only improvements I have seen are more traffic, working plumbing and beautiful hotels. I believe my running shoes will stay in the closet - these are NOT the kind of streets where I can throw on my iPod and sneaks and get my sweat on... mais non!
By the way - they speak Arabic and French. Here's a hearty THANK YOU to Mrs. McCorkel, my high school French teacher. I would be lost without you!
